Dr. Heinrich Boge is appointed president of the BKA.

01.10.1981

Bonn Branch moves to Meckenheim

The Bonn Branch moves into the new BKA building in Meckenheim-Merl with the following divisions: the Protection Group (SG), State Security (ST), and Technical Services (TD).

01.10.1982

Introduction of an automated radio transmission system

The Interpol radio station of the BKA ceases to send Morse code. An automated radio transmission system is introduced for radio communication with the National Central Bureaux and the ICPO-Interpol General Secretariat.

12.04.1983

The first liaison officer is posted in Bangkok

The first liaison officer is posted at the German diplomatic representation in Bangkok (Thailand). This is to improve cooperation with the local police services \u2013 especially in the field of drug crime.

01.01.1986

Establishment of the BKA's own Antidrug Division.

01.07.1988

Second BKA location in Wiesbaden is being occupied

Parts of the BKA move to a second BKA location in Wiesbaden (former Hindenburg barracks in Wiesbaden-Biebrich).
