1979 - 1985 Head of Neumünster CID; deputizing functions for the head of Kiel Criminal Police Directorate
1981 Secondment to Itzehoe Criminal Police Directorate
1985 - 1990 Staff adviser, training and further training adviser for the state police at the Ministry of the Interior of Schleswig Holstein
1990 - 1992 Head of the State Police Academy in Schleswig-Holstein; participation in setting up the structures of the State Police Academy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
1992 - 2004 Assignment to the Police Affairs Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein, serving as Department head from 1995 onward
